And the answer is . . . Two Truths and a Lie Revealed!

Sunday, May 17, 2015
Previously, I published three things about me, two of which are true, and one a lie.

I got married when I was 18. I can trace my father’s family, the Boatwrights, back to the Revolutionary War. Two weeks ago I danced in a local production of The Wizard of Oz.

Truth: My husband and I did get married when we were 18, only 3 days after graduating high school. We were crazy in love, and just plain crazy. But God has blessed us every step (and step back) in our lives and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.

Lie: About three years ago, I attended the family reunion for my family, specifically the descendants of Captain James Boatwright, a Captain in the Civil War.
Captain James Boatwright

I was under the impression that my family members could trace our lineage only as far back as the Civil War, because a lot of records were destroyed. However, as I was preparing this post, I began to dig around and found the Captain's father and grandfather. This means that my children can trace their ancestors back 8 generations! It also means that my statement was not completely a lie, as the Captain's grandfather Ambrose was born about 1745.

Truth: My daughter dances for a local dance studio and each year for the recital they put on a production. The past few years, parents were asked to participate, as well. Some fellow dance moms, and dads, and I were the Winkie Guards, and we had an amazingly fun time doing a hip-hop number for the production.

I hope y'all enjoyed this "getting-to-know-you" activity as much as I did. I look forward to working with you all through the next few weeks!
