A Southern Welcome

Welcome to Sweet Seconds. My name is Ashley Fort, and I live in a rural town in the Midlands of South Carolina. I am a true Southerner! I love being a South Carolina native, living in the country, and all that entails. My favorite beverage is sweet tea, my mustard-based barbeque is to die for, and I'm always blessing someone's heart.

really love spending time with my family. I come from a family of teachers: my mother, an aunt, and a great-aunt were all teachers. My husband Andrew is self-employed and a Sergeant in the South Carolina Army National Guard. We've been married for 17 years and have 3 precious children: Liam (13), Caroline (11), and Aidan (9). I love being their first teacher and a golf mom, dance mom, and baseball mom to those wonderfully energetic little humans. I enjoy couponing, refinishing furniture, crafting, and decorating my home. I also thoroughly enjoy reading, especially studying God's word.

I very excited to start my very own blog! I have been a blog stalker for the past 3 years and have always wanted to contribute to one myself. Currently, I am pursuing a Masters in Educational Technology and Online Learning from Liberty University. One of my assignments this term was to create my own blog. I'm looking forward to where this endeavor leads . . .

I enjoy implementing technology in my classroom, from interactive lessons on the SmartBoard to using iPads to introduce students to the basics of using the internet and technology for research and presentations. It’s also important to teach these students the niceties and etiquette of using technology, as well as ways to keep them safe. I recently volunteered to be a part of a newly-formed technology advisory committee that will help get teachers, students, and parents more involved with beneficial technology and teach them digital citizenship, as well.
